Having gone to school in the U.S. in her later academic years, she is able to easily navigate American culture as well. She is also what some call a\u00a0multi-potentialist<\/strong>. In the last 15 years, she has walked multiple career paths sometimes simultaneously, working with organizations and projects that she is passionate about in the areas of communications, education and the arts.<\/p>\n\n

During her years in college,\u00a0Nuvia\u00a0was part of a youth radio show called El Break, through which she developed deep relationships with members of the state\u2019s Spanish media. This experience and her degree in mass communications and journalism allowed her to meaningfully contribute to the communications efforts of\u00a0Donor Network of Arizona<\/a>\u00a0(her first professional job after college),\u00a0Expect More Arizona<\/a>, and most recently the U.S. Census Bureau and Election Protection Arizona.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Part of what shaped\u00a0Nuvia\u00a0was being the first person in her family to obtain a college degree. She wholeheartedly believes education is the key to building economic and intellectual wealth. She has worked in education advocacy through the\u00a0Isac Amaya Foundation<\/a>,\u00a0Valley of the Sun United Way<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Expect More Arizona<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Nuvia\u00a0is also a theatre and cultural event producer, and an arts advocate. She has worked with local theatre companies\u00a0Teatro Bravo<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0New Carpa Theatre<\/a>\u00a0in multiple capacities. Through her independent work she has written two short plays and produced and directed \u201cSu\u00e9ltate,\u201d a micro-play written by\u00a0Marc Egea<\/a>\u00a0and \u201cLos Monologos de la Vagina,\u201d written by Eve Ensler. She most recently produced a reading of\u00a0 her play \u201cLa nostalgia de chupar como veintea\u00f1eras,\u201d about female friendship and the patriarchy. In 2017 she co-founded\u00a0LaPhoenikera.com<\/a>, a digital platform that elevates the contributions of artists and culture producers of color in Phoenix and creates events to feature artists and pay them fairly.
